Welcome to Monthly Review number 10. Yes, October is also over now and I almost forgot to write this review, even though I knew that today is Reformation Day and Halloween and tomorrow we will be in the month of November. Whether it is a good or bad thing that 2020 is slowly coming to an end remains to be seen.

So far, October has been relatively unspectacular. It was my girlfriend’s birthday and now she moved to study (I helped her and had 3 days of sore muscles 😅). I worked and narrowed down the topic for my bachelor thesis so that I can start working on it soon. And in my spare time I also continued to work on my current side (🇩🇪) project, a new software for running my blog, the project has been running for several months now. Of course I have also been taking walks, reducing my news consumption (🇩🇪) or watching TV series (🇩🇪).

Autumn is here and so the Corona situation is getting worse again. Record numbers after record numbers, new “Lockdown Lite” and still no long-term plan how to get the virus under control. It will take some time until the whole population is vaccinated. I am divided in my opinion, on the one hand it somehow needs stricter rules if self-discipline is lacking, on the other hand the decided rules are partly inconsistent or unfair. Help seems to benefit most those who can afford to finance a large lobby in Berlin. I am very glad that (so far) no consequences of the crisis are really hitting me, but who knows what the future will bring, so don’t celebrate too soon.

Apart from that, a time is beginning again anyway, where you inevitably spend more time indoors, because the days are getting shorter again and the end of work is only for a short time in the light anymore. I don’t really know why, but somehow I notice it much more this year. Maybe it’s because this year, where I’m doing my practical phase and bachelor’s thesis from home, every working day has a similar pattern. Last year and the year before I had lectures at this time of year, some days longer, some days shorter. So there were days when I came home in the dark, but also days where I had more time in the light. Well, then you just have to use the weekend all the more intensively and spend time outdoors during the day.

Let’s see what November brings…
