⚠️ This entry is already over one year old. It may no longer be up to date. Opinions may have changed.

Now the end of July has already arrived. Another month over, another monthly review to read.

Almost exactly a year ago I started programming my own blog software and since then it keeps me busy more or less. Lately more so again, so I’m developing new functionality, improving existing functionality and fixing bugs at a pretty rapid pace. Not to forget: I also write automatic tests to make sure that I don’t suddenly break something by making small changes. Especially through my work I realized even more how important and useful such tests are.

Apart from that, an important topic for me this month was my mobility change. After putting it off for a long time, I finally sold my car this month. I hardly drove it anyway and it was almost more of a burden than a benefit. There were constantly high maintenance costs, the search for a parking space often made me freak out, and on top of that, the air conditioning was broken. How do I get around now? Bicycle, public transport and car sharing. So far, I haven’t missed the car once. I blogged about it, too.

In mid-July, nature showed mankind in Europe once again that it is stronger than we humans. It’s really bad what happened to some people there. But it’s also a warning signal to pay a little more attention to our carbon footprint.

Apart from that, a cold knocked me out again this month. For a few days I lay powerless in bed. And when I was reasonably fit again, I had the second Corona vaccination, the side effects of which were also stronger than I had originally thought. But now I am completely vaccinated. Nevertheless, I will continue to wear a mask, avoid crowds and continue to follow the hygiene tips. The fourth wave is already approaching.
